Main issues re lead free are realy relating to the ovens and wave soldering machinery.

Printers are printers and as such should in themselves have no problems in using lead free pastes.

Have seen at Nepcon UK the lead free 2 Smart Group hands on stand where the two printers ( Speedprint 200AVI in-line and a Reprint R29 ) print some test boards. Realy both machines prints were fine. The Reprint machine printed incredibly well for stand alone matching the in-line for acuracy. I use a Dek 248 and it is certainly better than that. Doubt if I can persuade my manager to change though, as my compnay is being extremely tight fisted at the moment.

I understand that both standard squeegee blades were used as well as some highly polished ones.

Both seemed to be ok to me although highly polished or coated ones are recomended for lead free use.

There might have to be some changes to the stencil you are using depending on the application. It would be best to speak to your stencil manufacturer as some lead free pastes seem to have different rolling characteristics.

Good luck
